Slow process

My life is much more mundane now, the travelling has slowed down and these blog posts are getting a little more boring now and I am fully aware of that, so I’m sorry!!
You’ll all be pleased to hear I’ve not had any angry crying meltdowns since the last post. I’ve successfully got my medical, and after three attempts (I have no shame telling you that), I passed my class 4 knowledge test. I decided to wing it instead of revising the 200+ page drivers guide, at £10 a pop who can blame me?! The questions were somewhat ridiculous as the class 4 (our C1 equivalent) also encompasses taxi and school bus drivers. I now know how to appropriately touch a deaf person to get their attention, wonderful.
I passed on Monday which really put a spring in my step for the week, so much so that I decided to join (or rejoin I guess) F45. I used to go in London and for those who’ve never heard of it, it’s a functional 45 minute HIIT class gym basically that mixes cardio and weight based sessions. I’ve been going every day to get my moneys worth and I’ve enjoyed being the ‘English girl’ everyone is getting to know, and yes, I’ve once again been asked for my opinion on Harry and Meaghan. I also went out and bought myself a car!!!!! I knew I’d need one fairly soon for work. They don’t have gumtree or eBay here and auto trader isn’t even popular, so Facebook marketplace is the spot to shop for almost everything. After hours of searching over many days I landed on a 2011 Ford Escape AWD (I’ll put a picture on below) and I love it! So much freedom now, Alberta feels like my oyster.
I’ve had a few more hiccups with work this week, after getting my licence I thought I’d be able to start but management are still unsure how to deal with me being on a provisional medical licence with some restrictions. There is a likelihood they won’t let me start until I’ve sat further CPD courses to cover this, absolute ball ache. Oh and also they want my vulnerable sector check which is currently in a wait list at Calgary police station, not ideal. So, in the meantime I’ve applied and got a job working as a medic on an industrial site. I think this entails sitting in a mobile treatment centre hoping nobody gets hurt, a little boring but it’ll pay the bills!
I’ve really settled into my new house, the 3 girls I live with are so friendly! I’ve consumed more wine with them (mostly Hunter) in this house than I have since arriving in Canada. They’ve really made me feel welcome, besides some age jokes because I’m the oldest, I’m looking forward to what the next year will bring. We’re having a big ‘friendsgiving’ dinner in a few weeks, I thought that was just an American thing but turns out it’s not.
I bet you can’t wait to see the new work uniform (brightly coloured overalls I believe). Oh and I found a 'British isle' at my local supermarket how exciting, I'm trying Canadian classics as well don't worry (see below).
Catch you all soon,
Em x

Like the car . At least some money to pay the bills even if it’s bored going
